Party hardy!!!

Memorial Day weekend was pretty low key! We did alot of cleaning/organizing on Saturday and finished a major project that's been on my "to do" list since January. It felt good to actually get something accomplished!!!!

I bought John a new swimming pool and he's been begging to swim since he saw it. So Tim blew it up Saturday afternoon while he was napping. As soon as he woke up, he was outside waiting. The water was soooo cold but he was determined to swim. At one point, I looked over and his lips were blue. That's when I decided he should swim in Mommy's bathtub in the warm water. He agreed, so off he went!

Sunday we BBQ'd and had some friends over. I love entertaining but it's a lot of friggin' work! You clean the house before everyone shows up only to have to do the same thing after they leave! What's that about??? There was 6 children under the age of 5....that's right 6! I should have taken a picture of the play room after everyone left. It was like the room exploded! Words can't even describe how destroyed that room was! Last night, I attempted to get it somewhat organized again but gave up with the Real Housewives of NJ came on! I LOVE that show by the way!! It's terrible, mindless, reality TV but I LOVE IT and I'm not afraid to admit it!

Monday we had Alexandra's 2nd birthday party. The weather turned out to be super nice so the kids got to play on the slip n' slide. They had a blast! I really wanted to take a turn but I would probably end up injuring myself and then I would have to explain what happened when people asked how I broke my arm, leg, neck, etc. so I decided I better just sit and take pictures!

A good day to be a mother

Mother's day 2009 was a good day! My wonderful mother came in town. Saturday was full of activities...t-ball game at 11:30 (HOT!) and a birthday party in The Woodlands. My mom so graciously agreed to babysitting John while Tim and I went out to dinner with our good friend's The Raverty's for Jason's birthday.

I have to brag on myself for a moment, b/c I found the perfect gift for my mom. My Mamaw Young passed away after a sudden illness in 1997. It was devasting to my whole family but was especially hard for my mom and myself. We were extremely close and I feel like she died too young. She was only 64. To this day, I can't talk about her without tearing up. I will never understand why God had to take her from us but I do know He has his reasons and I should never question why.
Anyway, onto the gift...I gave my mom a necklace with John's picture on it for Christmas so I thought to myself, I should do the same necklace except with my Mamaw's picture. Here is the picture I used. Patricia Ann Young was such a beautiful soul, inside and out and is dearly missed every day!

Back to Mother's Day...

On Sunday, we had every intention of going to church but just couldn't our act togehter in time to make it to the 9:30 service. I've got to work on that! Before I knew it, it was time for brunch at Bentwater on Lake Conroe with the Spengel's and Schoenherr's. Brunch was delicious, as always. Mom headed home straight from Bentwater and we got home just in time for naps! Ahhhh, nothing like a good 2 hour nap on a Sunday afternoon.

T to the BALL! Go Rangers!

You read it right....T-ball! Now, I know some of you are thinking, "3 year old in t-ball..WTH?!?!"...let me just explain...The YMCA in Conroe offers "Mighty-mite" t-ball for 3 and 4 year olds. I know this b/c a friend of ours enrolled their little boy last year, who ended up being a natural, by the way. One of the great things about this program is when you enroll you can request to be on a team with kids you know! Knowing how shy John is, I of course , requested he be on a couple of kids teams thinking that surely we'd end up with someone he knew. After calling some other moms, I discovered that we weren't on any of the same teams! GREAT! To top it off, we were to recieve a call from our coach, to schedule a meeting to go over uniforms, first practice/game, etc. about 2 weeks prior to the season (which is literally a month). So when we had't received a call a week before the practice/game I knew this was going to be interesting. I did finally recieve a call from our coach who just informed us what field to be on, what time, to wear blue shorts and bring the glove....no meeting, hmmm?

1st practice/game....We show up in our blue shorts and old t-shirt only to be met by the team we were playing, who was in FULL UNIFORM! They had their names monogrammed on the shirts, matching pants, the whole shabang! REALLY!! We didn't even have our shirts and hats yet! So the Coach gets there, passes out the shirts and hats and attempts to start a practice. Mind you, these little guys and gals don't know each other from adam because WE didn't have a pre-meeting (I'm a little bitter about this)! Needless to say, it was all down hill from there. John was not having any of it! Wouldn't wear his hat, glove..nothing! I was able to get him out in the outfield but only to make an immediate exit after he tried to pee on the field...damn Tim for teaching him to go outside! John did however take full advantage of the juice and snack afterwards. He told me that was his favorite part..nice!

So that was our first experience at this t-ball thing! We are now in week 4 and he's gotten sooooo much better. He's wearing his full uniform now and last week, he actually ran the bases! So proud! We have 3 more games and then awards day! Can you believe they give out trophies?!!?!

I have to say that this has definitely been a learning experience for me. I came into this thing, level headed knowing:
1. he's three years old
2. how super duper shy he is
3. it's just t-ball
But somehow ended up expecting him go hit a home run in the major leagues! WHAT, WHY, HOW?!?!?! When did I get so competitive? It's just so funny how much you want your child to succeed even if it's t-ball and he's 3!!!

Adventures in Potty Training

I have to say for the most part, John has done a pretty good job at the whole potty training thing. It started out rough but I think that was because I was a little overzealous and probably started too early. But we're in the groove now! We've even been asked to take home his pull-up supply from school...that's right, the whole stash!

As of now, John only wears pull-ups at night and nap time, although last Sunday he took a 2 hour nap without a pull-up on and stayed COMPLETELY dry! I couldn't believe it!! I totally expected to have a wet mess when he woke up (mainly because he was napping on the couch and that would just be my luck for not moving him to his bed!!) but no wet mess! Just one dry to bone boy! I was one proud momma!
We are still having some issues with the whole "poop" thing. Sometimes he's super good about alerting me to when he has to go and he hops right up on the potty and does his thing. And then there are the, "I'm too busy, so I'm just gonna go in my underwear, so mommy has to clean them out" times! Let me just say that, cleaning poop out of cotton underwear is gross! Here lately, I've thrown a couple of pairs away b/c I was so icked out!! I don't know why he keeps doing....hopefully it's a phase and he'll grow out of it.
Ahhhh the joys of motherhood!

Funny little man

Hysterical...that's the best adjective I can use to describe my child! It's like living with a miniature Jim Carey.

His new "thing" is saying "No way, Jose" except it's more like, "No way, Nose".
He's always up to something! Here lately, while Tim is mowing the grass w/ the riding lawn mower, John will follow him and pick up the clippings... stuff them into his toy golf bag and then go make "cakes" on the deck! It keeps him entertained but the deck is stained green! Gonna have to power wash it pretty soon!
Everyday it's something new! Gotta Love him!
